We've seen our child progress immensely and look forward to her future performances that she puts so much time and effort into alongside her lovely teacher, Mrs. Helen (she's incredible). beauty and the developing brain

Throughout history, music has always been a source of joy and beauty which is a reason enough to learn to play an instrument!

Modern scientific studies however, have proven tangible benefits to the brain through the practical aspects of learning and playing of an instrument.

Some of these benefits include academic enhancements such as improved reading and listening skills, verbal intelligence and math comprehension developed through the process of learning the various notes and values.

Further skills such as concentration, co-ordination, counting, memorization, spatial awareness, developing fine motor skills, stimulating the rhythmic system, and creativity all contribute to an increase in academic success.

social and emotional

Emotional development, empathy and mental health are developed through learning to play an instrument as music has the ability to express a wide range of emotions and be therapeutic.

Having an instrument to play provides children and adults a place for expression and transformation of all experiences, a place to relax, connect and relate better to others.

education and life skills

General education is enhanced by studying the composers, the history, time periods, and various musical styles within which the music was created. Studying the composers gives the student a more intimate understanding of the musicians, their music, relevance and connection to what they are learning to play, as well as creating an awareness of the world at large. Life skills developed throughout the process of learning to play an instrument. Skills such as the discipline to practice and complete theory work, managing time, self regulation, preparing for performances and examinations, improving self confidence, having a sense of accomplishment after working hard and finally, enjoying the joy and beauty of making music.
